For Vietnam veteran Ralph Levoy, it's a 4th of July holiday he'll never forget. He finally got his purple heart 34 years after he was wounded in action.
Levoy was blowing an enemy mine near Chu Li Vietnam in August of 1969 when he was wounded and taken to a hospital. There his records vanished and since that time never received his purple heart. But he kept trying government channels ,and his wife of 34 years, Sherrie, wouldn't let him quit.
Finally local veterans were able to help find is paperwork and an added surprise came with it. On Friday Levoy was presented the purple heart and the bronze star for bravery in action.
