Job fair targets veterans

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - They're the men and women trained to take action in times of war. When they come back home, they face the transition from battlefield to behind a desk.

Today an East Texas organization focused on giving hundreds of job seeking vets the opportunity they deserve. Nearly 700 jobless East Texans competed Wednesday morning for far fewer jobs at not your average job fair.

Workforce Solutions focused to serve those who have served the flag. Junior Jameson returned from Vietnam to steady jobs until being laid off last January. He's one of Smith County's 18,000 veterans. Now, Jameson is just looking for a paycheck.

Counselors match vet skills with jobs, trying to stop the stress of unemployment. More than 65 employers turned out for the fair.
