Local restaurants honor troops with free meals

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Local restaurants will honor war veterans and active military this Veteran's Day, by offering free food and discounts to those who have served their country.

All restaurants will require troops to show proof of their military service.

Ways to identify yourself include bringing a photograph of yourself in your uniform, wearing your uniform, showing your U.S. Uniform Services/Retired Services ID, or veterans' organization card, or providing a current leave and earnings statement (LES) or a DD214.

The list of local restaurants participating are as follows:

Applebee's (Tyler, Longview and Lufkin): free meal.

TGI Fridays: buy one get one free.

Chili's (Tyler, Longview, Jacksonville, Lufkin): limited menu.

Texas Roadhouse (Longview): from 4pm to10pm, 10% off meals.

Outback Steakhouse (Tyler, Longview): free bloomin' Onion and beverage.

Golden Corral (Henderson) Monday, November 15, starting at 5pm, free meals.

Subway (Tyler Locations: E. Southeast Loop 323 (coupons), 7922 S. Broadway Ave, #A, 1669 FM 2493/ Longview Locations: 1753 W. Loop 281, 4006 Estes Pkwy)

Sports Clips: Donating a dollar from every hair cut to help a hero.

Dollar General, Sears: 10% off total purchase.

Amazon: free "Veteran's Day Honor" MP3 album.
