Residents, Businesses Evacuated after Kilgore Explosion at Pyrotechnics Company

At five o'clock on Thursday afternoon, residents of Kilgore heard an earth-shattering explosion. And then, over the next hour, they heard many more explosions.  The sound and smoke came from a building that was home to Lamb Entertainment, a pyrotechnics company that specializes in fireworks shows. Law enforcement evacuated a neighborhood between Pentecost Road and Stone Road, up to Highway 259.

Six people were inside the building at the time of the explosion.  Three have seen doctors.  Three are unaccounted for.  The blast blew apart the Lamb building and damaged nearby homes.

Lamb Entertainment was preparing for a fireworks show tomorrow in Kilgore.  There's no word on the status of that show.  But a fireworks display, planned by Lamb in the city of Lufkin has been cancelled.
