Convenience Store Burglary Suspect In Custody

A brazen burglar strikes again, hitting his fifth convenience store in just a few weeks. But it may be his last. Tonight, 33 year old David Wayne Wilkins was arrested at his home just outside Whitehouse. Police hter believe he's responsible for five recent robberies-- all in Smith County. He was taken into custody after a tip from Jacksonville Police led them to his home. A joint effort including the Smith County Sheriff's Department resulted in Wilkins' capture. Whitehouse Police say they began to get leads about David Wilkins after Channel 7 aired surveillance video of one of the robberies a few weeks ago. Tonight, authorities say they recovered a large amount of the stolen property in Wilkins' house and vehicle. David Wilkins is being held in the Smith County Jail tonight awaiting charges.
