For years veterans in Gregg County have had to make long trips to Dallas or Shreveport to get care at VA hospitals. But now a Longview hospital is opening its doors for veteran care.
Longview Regional Medical Center has finalized insurance contracts for veterans, meaning they can seek care through their hospital; through coverage called "Tricare", or the Department of Defense Health Benefits Program, all active duty military and veterans under age 65 can receive healthcare.
The hospital will open it door to veterans beginning July 7th.
