MORGAN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A Morgan Township family of four is lucky to be alive after their home exploded early Thursday morning.
It happened in the 3900 block of Buckridge Lane around 6 a.m. Neighbors tell FOX19 they felt something that seemed like an earthquake, and looked outside to find the home completely engulfed in flames. Dispatchers received a total of 22 calls reporting the fire.
A mother and child suffered minor injuries, but were not transported to the hospital. The other two family members were not injured.
"The family is lucky to be alive," said Morgan Township Fire Chief J.R. Wood.
Wood says initial investigation reveals the cause of the explosion to be propane gas. The home is leveled and considered a total loss.
Crews from Hamilton County were called in to help put the fire out and get water to the scene, since there are no fire hydrants nearby.
At noon, crews were still on the scene battling hot spots. The Ohio State Fire Marshal is also investigating, as are ATF agents.
