Released by Marshall Police Department:

MARSHALL, TX - On November 5, 2010 at approximately 3:31am, the Marshall Police Department dispatched officers to the EZ Mart at 2507 W. Pinecrest Drive in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred.

As officers arrived on scene dispatched advised that another robbery had just occurred at the Fina Station at 212 W. Grand.

After receiving clothing and vehicle description from each store clerk, it was determined that each robbery had been committed by the same actor.

Officers patrolling the area saw a vehicle matching the description given by the store clerk. Officers activated the emergency lights and siren in an attempt to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle fled from officers and after a brief chase the vehicle wrecked out and the armed suspect was taken into custody. A MPD patrol unit sustained damage during the pursuit.

The actor was identified as Carlyle Cooper III, 23 years-old. Further investigation led to the subject being arrested on the two robberies that occurred on this date as well as three other robberies.

Cooper was charged with 5 counts of Aggravated Robbery as well as Evading Arrest/Detention. Each Aggravated Robbery charge is a 1st degree Felony that carries a punishment of up to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.

The Evading Arrest/Detention in a Vehicle charge is a State Jail Felony that carries a punishment of 180 days to 2 years in State Jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Cooper was booked into the Harrison County Jail and was arraigned by Judge Melba Oney.

Cooper's bond was set at $100,000 for each Aggravated Robbery charge and a $20,000 bond for the Evading Arrest/Detention in a Vehicle charge.
