Hot toys for Christmas

Tyler, TX (KLTV) - It's not really looking a lot like Christmas, yet, but you might want to start thinking that way. Kids want all the new cool stuff they've been bombarded with on television and the web. So we took a look at some of the hottest new toys.

Toys have really evolved from the days of Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots and Monchichi, although those toys are available again if your kids are old-school enough to handle them.

Some of this year's must-have items have strange names like Squinkies, Zoobies and Sing-a-ma-jigs. And in no time, we find lots and lots of Squinkies.

"Woo-hoo! I'm a bigfoot!" Declared the BigFoot toy.

He does say more than the obvious. He even works out until he hurts himself (probably middle-aged).

Furr-reals move and purr when you pet them, and sometimes when you don't.

Sing-A-Ma-Jigs talk when you squeeze a hand, and harmonize when there's more than one.

Zhu-Zhu Pets are still popular, because some of them are already gone.

Loopz is a familiar game. It's pretty much Simon, but sort of inside-out. You pass your hand through openings near the lights.

Cuponk is another new game. But, what does it do?

"I have no idea," said a helpful store employee.

Vtech Reader is sort of a kindle that not only reads to your kids, but also teaches them while it's at it.

And, Silly Bands are still a much-wanted item by kids and teachers alike.

On the way out, I thought I'd take on last look at those Sing-a-ma-jigs.

"Night, Night. Goodbye. Night, Night. Goodbye. Night, Night. Goodbye," about 15 of them said all at the same time.

Store managers say if you want any of these toys you'd better buy now. If you wait for the sale prices it might be too late, and some items end up so back-ordered they may not be available until after Christmas.
