GROVETON, Texas (KTRE) - A Trinity County jury has sentenced a Trinity man to 99 years in prison on two counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency of a child.
James Totten, 43, of Trinity, was arrested in March for the crime, following an investigation by Texas Ranger Pete Maskunas.
The jury formally sentenced Totten to two 99-year sentences and a concurrent 20-year sentence and to pay three $5,000 fines.
The jury returned the verdict in less than 30 minutes of deliberations.
The victim was 5 when the case was reported. The victim, her mother, and experts were witnesses in the trial.
