JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) - An East Texan is now the oldest person in the world.

Jacksonville resident, Eunice Sanborn has become the oldest person in the world, after the death of a French woman.

Eugenie Blanchard, formerly the oldest living person, died today at age 114.  Blanchard was born Feb. 16, 1896, in Saint Barthelemy of the French West Indies. She lived as a Catholic nun before retiring 30 years ago.

Currently, the three oldest people on record, live in the United States; with Eunice Sanborn of Jacksonville leading the pack. Sanborn is 114-years-old.
