A crow found in southeast Tyler has tested positive for West Nile Virus. It was found in the 2500 hundred block of Merry Lane. Now that a positive identification of the virus has occurred in Smith County, the Texas Department of Health has advised no further bird specimens will be tested for the virus. Tyler Vector Control has treated the area where the positive case was found and will continue to treat the area. The west nile virus is transmitted by mosquitoes.
