White Oak voting crowded

LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)- Long lines and confusion sparked some angry backlash from White Oak voters, some of whom were still trying to cast their ballots when the polls closed.

About a hundred people were still trying to get into the facility to vote at around 7 last night. Six voting machines were in use, and at 7 PM all those waiting outside were ushered to allow them to vote, some having waited for over an hour-and-a-half.

In the confusion, observers thought that voters were being turned away, but not so.

"If you came after 7, no you could not come in but everyone who came in at 7, they did get to stay in the line and they did get to vote," says Gregg county elections administrator Katherine Nealy.

Nealy says the log-jam at the facility was most like caused by many trying to vote at the last minute.
