ATLANTA, GA (CNN) - A Georgia teenager is dead this morning after he was shot over a Halloween prank, police said.
Maj. Keith Meadows said that a teenager threw an egg at a car at about 8:00 p.m. Halloween night.
The driver left the intersection of Joseph Boone and Joseph Lowery Blvds. where the incident occurred and came back with a gun.
"It appears the victim in this case was standing at the intersection when suspect approached him, produced a handgun, and discharge ed the weapon at least ten times striking the victim," Meadows said.
It's unclear how many times the victim was hit, but late Sunday night, he died of his injuries at Grady Hospital.
Meadows said detectives would spend the night interviewing witnesses and learning more about their victim.
"Right now we do not have a positive identification on him, but we believe that he's about 17 to 18 years of age," he said.
Police believe he was accompanied by several other young people at the intersection.
