ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Two Angelina County women were booked into the Angelina County Jail on Thursday on allegations of not reporting incomes in order to obtain food-stamp benefits.
An investigator with the Angelina County District Attorney's Office requested the warrants for Maria Salais Garcia, 46, of Diboll, and Martha Elvira Zapata, 31, of Lufkin.
In Garcia's case, a warrant affidavit explains how she alleged in Sept. 2008 her household's only income was from her husband's employment, even though her son held two jobs.
In Zapata's case, a warrant affidavit explains how she only reported one job for her husband, when he held two.
The affidavits allege both women falsified their incomes in order to receive food-stamp benefits.
Both are charged with securing execution of document by deception, a state jail felony.
