Fire Safety for 4th of July

As we approach July, many east Texans will turn their attentions to our annual celebration of the nations birthday, and of course fireworks.

Already fireworks stands in Gregg county are gearing up for big business. They're selling some of the hotter items called terrorist candles. The candles light up and the head explodes. A veritable arsenal of high powered fireworks can be bought on roadsides.

Warning labels are on all fireworks and most can be very dangerous. A sentiment the fire department shares, as they annually have to deal with injuries and fires related to the holiday. Authorities remind the general public that it is illegal to set off fireworks inside city limits.
