ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Groveton man charged with removing a birth control implant out of a girl's arm was arrested again Wednesday for allegedly illegally tattooing a minor.
According to an arrest affidavit, Inv. Mike Jones spoke with a woman on Oct. 21 who said her 17-year-old daughter was given a tattoo without her mother's consent. The girl told Jones that a friend of hers arranged for James Jacob Thompson, 22, to meet her at the friend's house on Mt. Carmel Road, and he would give her the tattoo.
The affidavit states Thompson put a tattoo of a tree branch with three birds on it on the victim's left side in the rib area.
Jones showed the girl a picture of Thompson, and the girl confirmed he gave her the tattoo.
Thompson was booked into the Angelina County Jail on Wednesday.
He is now charged with the misdemeanor offenses of tattooing a prohibited person and tattooing at an unlicensed facility, in addition to a felony and two other misdemeanor tattooing offenses he was arrested for on Oct. 19. He also has a pending drug charge.
According to a previous report, the sheriff's office was contacted on Oct. 12 in regard to a 16-year-old juvenile being tattooed and having a surgically place implant removed. During the investigation, detectives say they learned the suspect, James Jacob Thompson, 22, told the juvenile at a party he was a tattoo artist and would tattoo her. Thompson had his tattooing materials in his vehicle at the party, the report states.
Cooper said the juvenile also asked Thompson if he would remove a birth control implant from her arm, and he did by making an incision in her arm.
