DALLAS, TX (CNN) - A lawyer in Texas has filed an emergency legal brief asking permission to go to a baseball game instead of a court hearing. But it's not just any baseball game; the Texas Rangers are playing in the World Series for the first time.
Darrell Cook is asking a judge to postpone a pre-trial hearing scheduled for Wednesday so he can see the Texas Rangers play in the first game of the World Series in San Francisco this evening.
"I love that team and I love what they have become, which is a symbol of just sheer youthful exuberance," Cook said.
Cook filed the brief on Monday, but didn't wait for an answer. He briefed another lawyer on the case so he could fill in for him, just in case, and hopped on a plane today.
Cook said he's been a fan since 1972, when he was 13. Seeing the team play in the World Series has been his life-long dream.
There's no word yet from the judge.
