Storms drop massive tree on home for the second time

LAKE CHEROKEE, TX (KLTV) - Weekend storms dropped a massive tree on one East Texan's home...for the second time.

The damage happened during Saturday's storms on Lake Cherokee.  A 100-year-old, 30-ton tree fell on David and Polly Dunlap's home.  The limbs tore through the home's master bedroom and bathroom. Luckily, they were not home.

The couple says they had a similar close call two years ago with hurricane Ike.

"We weren't hurt and this is the second tree in two years we have had fall on our house. The first one demolished everything from the peak of the house to the front, all the way across. This one only took one side, so we were very lucky.

The Dunlaps say they are insured for the damage.
