A body found today in the Sabine River has been confirmed as the East Texas man missing for the last two days. Michael Hendrix was last seen alive Tuesday night after he went to the movies at a Kilgore theater. Hendrix's body was found by search teams on Highway 42 near the Sabine River bridge in White Oak. Now, a suspect is in custody and another is being sought
The investigation into his disappearance started with the arrest of a man in Cass County who was linked to auto theft; he lead authorities to a second suspect. Under arrest and charged with murder is 26 year old Aaron Ray Higginbotham of Gladewater. Higginbotham implicated a second man, 27 year old Michael Dwan Kay in the murder.
Hendrix's family members say investigators were told by Higginbotham the pair beat Hendrix, then dumped his body in the river. Higginbotham lead authorities to the crime scenes. No motive has been established in the killing, and police are urgently asking to help them catch Kay, who has a warrant for murder.
