The Texas Rangers are investigating a bizarre shooting in Henderson County, that started with the search for a missing Texas governor's son.
Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt tells KLTV 7 that deputies were searching a property off Highway 19 Friday for Bill Clements, who is the son of the former Texas governor and has been reported missing.
While on that property, a neighbor reportedly pulled an AK-47 and threatened officers.
Deputies left and returned with an armored car and Tyler Police officers to arrest the neighbor, identified as Howard Granger.
Sheriff Nutt says Granger fired at the officers, forcing them to shoot back, killing him.
The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate the shooting.
Deputies will continue their search for Clements in the morning.
