TYLER, TX (KLTV) - They act as your home away from home with room service, maids, and no shortage of clean towels. But be warned, break hotel rules and you could find yourself on the bad list.
Most are good, but when bad apples hit the hotel business potential profits walk right out the door. "They're not paying to be able to treat all the property in there as disposable because it's not," said Cheyenne Whorton, Hilton Garden Inn General Manager.

"It gives us a great opportunity to be proactive," said Whorton, who has seen his fair share of entitled guests. "[They see] it as an opportunity to see just how many people they can fit," said Whorton as he points to a bathtub.
With GuestChecker, hotel managers can flag rule breaking guests for up to four years for a laundry list of wrongdoings, some say go too far.
"No harm no foul, if you don't hurt anybody it don't hurt anything," said frequent traveler Mac Terrell.
"You can kind of preemptively keep an eye out for these people," said Whorton.
Rent properties registered with GuestChecker can submit a guest's name for past incident reports. Stolen towels and after hours pool time are two of the most common. Wrongly accused can dispute the claim and tell their side. Either way hotels think the site will keep things on the safe side.
"It's a great chance for us in the hospitality industry here in Tyler to be able to network to weed out these problem guests these trouble guests," said Whorton.
