BULLARD, TX (KLTV)- Smith County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating allegations that a 13-year-old Bullard girl received inappropriate text messages from an unknown man.
According to Lt. Tony Dana, the girl's father discovered the messages on his daughter's cell phone Tuesday and then contacted authorities.
Dana said the messages ask the teenager to send pictures of herself posing in a bikini. It doesn't appear the man sent lewd pictures of himself to the girl, said Dana.
"If he actually sent her lewd pictures or discussed sex or arranged a meeting, he would be charged with online solicitation of a minor and due to her age it would be a second degree felony," he said.
Authorities are in the process of analyzing the girl's cell phone.
"We won't know how old the person sending the messages is until we analyze the cell phone," said Dana.
Dana said the appropriate charges, if any, will be filed after authorities conclude their investigation.
