Jewelry Designer Andrea Smith is one of the featured artists at this year's "Ben Wheeler Wild Hog Festival" Saturday, October 23rd. Although Smith usually works with beautiful stones such as turquoise, opals and lapis, family members are always bringing in animal parts such as tusks, teeth and even rattle snake rattlers from their hunts. So Smith just had to use these unexpected items in her jewelry. She says they're a natural with the popularity of the safari look in fashion.
Smith has been designing and making items in jewelry as long as she can remember, from paper doll wardrobes as a child, to fashion accessories for top names in fashion such as Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.
Her one of a kind turquoise jewelry is featured in the prestigious Millicent Rogers Museum Gallery in Taos, New, Mexico.
You can meet Andrea Smith and see her jewelry at the Ben Wheeler Wild Hog Festival, Saturday, October 23rd. Ben Wheeler is located in Van Zandt County on County Road 279.
