Kelly Workers Picket To Save Jobs

Employees at Kelly Springfield in Tyler say they are in danger of losing their jobs. On Monday, members of the United Steelworkers Union took to the streets in what was called an informational picket.

The union and Kelly's parent company, Goodyear Tire are in contract negotiations.

Union Representative, Ed Moore says he's afraid the company's proposed cutbacks could mean Tyler jobs. "We know that plant closures are on the table. Goodyear has 14 plants in North America. And, their goal is to close down some of those plants. We don't know if it's going to be this plant or not."

Goodyear's representative, Chuck Sinclair said he would not comment about what was being discussed at the bargaining table. But he did say he hoped an agreement could be reached by this Friday.
