TYLER, TX (KLTV) - TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A hearing was held Tuesday to decide if Jaden McLean should be released to his father or remain in the care of CPS. Last month, the two-year-old who shot himself in the head.
A CPS worker told the court that after Jaden was shot, his father, Dustin, refused to contact CPS after he was asked to sign an agreement that Jaden would be kept away from bars and any place where a gun may be.
Last month, the toddler was in his grandparents' Smith County bar, The Sports Club, when his grandparents say he found a nine millimeter pistol and shot himself. The boy's grandfather, Charles, is facing criminal charges for the shooting.
No decision about Jaden's care was made Tuesday. The hearing will continue Friday morning.
Jaden's parents, Dustin McLean and Ashton Wilson, have filed separate individual lawsuits against Chanda and Charles McLean. Dustin's lawsuit includes his parent's businesses.
