A Dallas inmate has been tied to an unsolved attack against a South Tyler woman.
The woman involved was living at Autumn Glen Apartments in April 2002, when an assailant kicked in her front door and attempted to sexually assault her.
Authorities collected DNA evidence from a blood sample the attacker left behind. The sample was placed in a suspect database, but for months, no hits turned up.
That changed last month, when Dallas Police plugged Lakieth Geron Ford's DNA into the system. Ford's DNA immediately drew a positive match against samples from Autumn Glen.
Dallas authorities say Ford had been arrested on multiple warrants, including one Dallas warrant for murder and another for aggravated sex assault.
