Longview gives State of the City address

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - One East Texas city is doing pretty good compared to the rest of the country, according to Longview's mayor.

"How are we doing?" was the focus of the annual State of the City address by Longview Mayor Jay Dean at Pinecrest Country Club.

Dean told city and civic leaders that Longview has lower unemployment than the rest of the country and the city's economy continues to prosper. Although the outlook now is good, dean says this is part of a longer journey.

"There's been a lot of those things that we have done, but we can't sit back and we can't wait to deal with the future because the things we do now, and do in the next several years, are going to set the pace for how this community will position itself for the future," said Dean.

Around 200 people attended the State of the City address Friday.
