East Texas WWII vets back home

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - WASHINGTON, D.C. (KLTV) - More than 35 East Texas veterans are back home after a whirlwind trip to Washington D.C.

The trip was the second time Brookshire's Grocery has sponsored a Hero's Flight, taking 37 World War II veterans to the nation's capitol for two days. The group visited Arlington National Cemetery, the Capitol, and most importantly, the World War II Memorial.

"It makes me feel that we did a good job in what we did, and the people appreciate it," said Gerald Emmons of Tyler.

"I have pre-war memories, and I have after war memories, and I have in-war memories going through this, so it's wonderful," said Vergil Rodgers of Tyler.

The veterans got home just before ten o'clock Wednesday night.
