TYLER (KLTV) - At least eight families are out of a home following an apartment fire.

The manager of the Hudson apartments says everyone has been accounted for - although it is believed a cat was killed in the fire.

So far, no injuries have been reported.

An eyewitness says that he saw people running and screaming from the building as flames shot from the air. Brian Werner says that he tried to help people get away, but it was too hot to approach the burning building.

Emergency crews were first called to the Hudson Apartments around 7:30 Wednesday evening.

People miles from the scene of the fire reported that they could see flames shooting into the air.

Staff members at Mother Frances were put on alert for an "emergency response" in case of injuries.

Shiloh Road, between South Broadway and Copeland Road, is now open to traffic.

A fund has been set up for those wanting to help the fire victims. People can donate at any Austin Bank location. Just donate to the fund set up named Hudson Apartment Fire.
