TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Gray's Anatomy star, Patrick Dempsey, has named Tyler has his top place to bicycle.

The avid cyclist told People Magazine that Tyler's country roads allow him to escape his hectic, TV star life. Now, Tyler cyclists say they will be on the look out.

Tyler Simpson and his daughter, Lori, bike the Old Tyler Highway to relax.

"We go out this way twice a week," said Tyler.

The two have traveled all over the countryside in search of the best stretch of roadway only to find it is right in front of them.

Grey's Anatomy star, Patrick Dempsey, thinks so, too. He recently named Tyler as one of the top places to cycle in People Magazine.

"I think it's pretty exciting," said Larry Coberly, who just recently picked up the sport. "He's a pretty cool guy, does a lot of exciting stuff, bicycling, racing."

"I can't say it's surprising because Tyler has some really cool roads," said Tyler. "It's a cool place to ride."

Lori says it would be even cooler if she caught up with Dempsey on the trails.

"Yeah, because he's like a celebrity," said Lori. "So, yeah, that's kind of cool."

The avid cyclist is also an avid fan of Gray's Anatomy, specifically, Patrick Dempsey's character.

"He's pretty cute," said Lori. "Don't tell my husband!"

Dempsey told People Magazine he cycles in Tyler to escape. He enjoys the isolated country roads. Like Dempsey, Simpson says he bikes to clear his mind.

"There's some sections of road out here that you can ride for a few hours and you won't see a hand full of cars," said Tyler.

While they might not spot cars on their two-wheel adventure, Lori says know she will never know which cyclist she'll see at the bottom of the hill.

"I'd talk to him and be like, 'Hey, man what's up? What's up?'" said Lori.

On Monday the Associated Press released its top 25 preseason poll for college football. And for the third straight year, Texas A&M didn't make the cut. Starting fast though and moving their way up the polls in recent seasons hasn't been the problem. In fact, the Aggies, who have over a dozen East Texans on the roster, were number four in the initial playoff rankings last year.
