Released by Drew Brandewie, Deputy Press Secretary for U.S. Senator John Cornyn:

WASHINGTON, DC - This morning Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) joined Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and met with a group of 37 World War II veterans from Tyler and East Texas who traveled to Washington, D.C. to visit the U.S. Capitol building and the World War II Memorial.

This visit provides them with the opportunity to pay their respects to friends and fellow service members lost during the war.

Their trip is being coordinated by Brookshire Grocery Co. as part of their 2nd Annual WWII Heroes Flight, a program run mainly by volunteers and established to honor the sacrifices of America's veterans by sending them to our nation's capital.
