SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Smith County law enforcement pulled over a truck pulling a trailer and uncovered 12 large bundles of marijuana on Sunday morning. Authorities say the pot weighed 300 pounds.

Deputy Mark Waters with the Smith County Constable's office in Lindale stopped the truck on  Interstate 20 for driving on the shoulder when not permitted and failure to stay in a single lane of traffic.

Authorities say the driver of the truck, Marcus Jarrett, 35, was hauling a load of grapes from California to Florida. Deputy Waters searched the area around the truck with his K-9 unit and uncovered the bundles of marijuana.

Jarrett was charged with a second degree felony and remains in the Smith County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

Officials say the produce will be transported by a replacement driver to its destination in Florida.
