I-20 drug bust, 2 from La. arrested

GREGG COUNTY, TX - Late Sunday night a Sheriff's Investigator arrested two men from Tallulah, Louisiana after the Investigator found cocaine in their vehicle during a search on IH-20 after stopping the vehicle for speed. Both men were transported to the Gregg County Jail.

Investigator Tracy Freeman while working IH-20 spotted an east bound Dodge passenger car speeding and stopped the car. "During the course of the stop, Investigator Freeman developed information regarding the two occupants that was suspicious and the pair showed signs of nervousness", Captain Mike Claxton said today.

"Investigator Freeman acting on consent from the driver of the car began a search. Freeman's search found a plastic bag of cocaine hidden in a food container", Claxton said. A quanative inventory of the cocaine showed the amount to be approximately 63 grams. "This is a significant quantity of powder based pure cocaine, Claxton said. The street price locally is estimated at $12,000.

Kalvin R. Banks 45 and Charles Coleman 56 both of Tallulah were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams less than 200 a second degree felony. Both men were arraigned today by Judge BH Jameson and bond was set at $100,000.
