LINDALE, TX (KLTV) - A 71-year-old East Texas man headed to lunch is stopped by three armed men. Police say the man was walking into the restaurant but stopped when he saw the men with a handgun.
It happened early Friday afternoon in the parking lot of Posado's Mexican restaurant in Lindale off Highway 69 near I-20.
The men forced the 71-year-old into a vehicle and drove him to the back parking lot of Posado's where they began to assault him. Fortunately, management heard the man's cries for help, walked outside and scared the suspects away immediately calling police for help.
"It's not a usual occurrence for someone to be attacked in a parking lot in the middle of the day at noon at lunchtime at a busy restaurant," said Lt. David Craft, with the Lindale Police Department. "I've been in law enforcement a long time and that doesn't occur very often."
Within minutes police contained the scene and sent a K-9 unit after one of the suspects who fled on foot.
Authorities are still looking for all three and are looking for two white males who fled in a white SUV. They are also looking for a black male who ran away on foot. They describe him as wearing blue jeans with a white Sherwin Williams t-shirt and a black baseball cap. If you have any information on these individuals you are asked to call Lindale Police.
Authorities say there were surveillance cameras located on the back side of the restaurant and they will be using that in the coming investigation.
Lindale Police say the 71-year-old man received some minor bruises in the struggle. He did not require a trip to the hospital.
