Event offers entrepreneurs small business loan opportunities

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - The Kilgore College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Longview Mall are teaming up the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to offer East Texas entrepreneurs and small business owners a one day workshop entitled, "Deal Day".  This event will be held Thursday, October 28th in the Longview Mall's Sears Wing (previously The Shoe Department location) from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.  This FREE event is open to the public and those interested in attending will have the opportunity to meet local bankers to discuss small business loans, SBA vs. conventional loan programs and loan requirements, business plan development and more.  In addition, business counselors from the Kilgore College SBDC will be on hand to work with loan clients and lenders to facilitate a successful event. 

The event will bring special guest, Sue Malone, Founder of Strategies for Small Business in Danville, California, to speak from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.  Sue Malone's sole mission for the last five years has been to help people obtain access to capital to start or expand their businesses. In doing so, one of her specialties has been small business start-up loans  where she has performed exceptionally well. She is the undisputed number one SBA loan provider for the Community Express Loan Program in the nation. As of April 2008, she is responsible for closing over 20,000 of these much needed loans.  She is a grassroots provider of these loans, serving all communities across the United States. As one of the busiest women in America, she is on the road constantly, dispensing a plethora of capital through innumerable loan workshops to: organizations, groups, churches, associations, chambers of commerce, non-profits, colleges, franchises, and entrepreneurial organizations. She is proud, along with other banks, to work directly with the SBA, as well as SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives), Women's Business Centers, and SBA Small Business Development Centers (SBDC's).  An inspirational speaker, she has been highlighted in countless speaking engagements, as well as in newspaper articles, magazines, television, radio, conventions, and CNN. Together with her numerous awards and with the assistance of the lenders she has partnered with, she has been responsible for their achieving the #1 SBA lender status in West Virginia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee, Hawaii, North Carolina, and in the top five lenders category in other districts.  Sue Malone has a degree in accounting and an MBA in finance. As such, she brings not only the requisite education and expertise, but the proven commitment to care deeply for the success of this Nation's small businesses.

The event will also bring the SBA's District Director, Herb Austin, Supervisor of Lender Relations, Perry Espie and SBA Project Chair for the SBDC, Billy Medina to Longview to work with area lenders and potential loan clients to support small business lending in the East Texas area.

Area bankers will be on hand to visit with prospective loan clients and provide information, resources and assistance to eligible small business lending projects.  Attendees are encouraged to bring any financial documentation, business plans, tax returns, P&L statements, driver's license, social security number and all parties involved in obtaining a loan.  Business owners not eligible include non-profit businesses, those with a criminal history or anyone who has defaulted on government or student loans.
