PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) - The East Texas woman who was hit by a truck while riding horseback for cancer awareness underwent a successful surgery Tuesday.
Family members say Sharon Slayden is still hospitalized in El Paso, and Thursday, on her birthday, she will have another surgery.
Sharon and her husband, Bob, were riding across the state to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
But Monday night, while helping an EMT fix a flat tire, Sharon was hit by a truck and her horse was killed.
