TROUP, TX (KLTV) -  The Troup football team will forfeit wins over Bullard and Sabine, after learning they had used an ineligible player.

Here is the news release from Troup Superintendent Dr. Marvin Beaty:

"In August of 2010, Troup High School enrolled a transfer student who subsequently established residency in Troup ISD with the High School Principal and Athletic Director exercising all due diligence in verifying the young man's residence with his mother and obtaining the required Previous Athletic Participation information.

"However, on September 23, 2010, Athletic Director Chuck Griffin was made aware of allegations that the family of the young man in question had not upheld the spirit of the residency rule as outlined by the University Interscholastic League. It is AD Griffin's recommendation that this young man be declared ineligible and that Troup High School forfeit both football wins in which this young man participated.

"Troup ISD will self report to the 11-AA District Executive Committee at their next meeting."

The Tigers host Brook Hill Friday night.
