GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - An unexpected situation stood between an expecting woman and the help she needed this morning. The woman was in labor on the way to the hospital when she was delayed by a wreck in the roadway.
Just ahead of her, an 18-wheeler had collided with a cement truck on Highway 149 in Gregg County, near whiskey bend.
Workers spent part of their morning flipping the cement truck right-side-up. According to DPS, the 18-wheeler was pulling out of a private drive when the cement truck ran a red light and hit the 18- wheeler.
That caused traffic to back up which kept the woman from getting to the hospital. Fortunately, an ambulance was already at the scene.
"After we were working on the crash here she pulled up and EMS tended to here while we were here," said Leslie Thurston, DPS Trooper.
Hospital officials say the woman is in the hospital right now. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt in that accident.
