KILGORE, TX (KLTV) - With fall comes festivals and pumpkin patches. One Kilgore owner hopes to bring back an old tradition of fall: a cornfield maze.
The Danville Farms Maze is an old school corn field.
"We just felt like there was something missing for families to do and on weekends in the fall so we thought, 'Let's bring a corn maze to East Texas,'" said Daylen Borders, the maze's co-owner.
The 10' stalks make wonderful walling for an old time maze. The attraction is simple.
"To actually come out and solve a puzzle, it's not something very many families have a chance to do today," said Border.
It is a little piece of Norman Rockwell Americana. Ever since there have been farmers, there have been corn fields and mazes.
It is not as easy as it might seem say those who have braved it.
"The main trick is keeping your patience and having a good sense of direction," advised Border. "In fact, some folks ask us about, 'Hey, can I bring my GPS?' Sure! If you think it'll help you, absolutely."
And, for those who may get lost, there is a solution.
"We will have 'crop-cops,' as we call them, posted at various places in the field to assist," said Border.
The five acre maze is a puzzle, and, of course, that is what a maze is all about.
The Maze at Danville Farms opens this Friday at 5 p.m. and will be open every weekend throughout the fall.
