CHAPEL HILL, TX (KLTV) - A $1,000 reward is now being offered for information that could catch an East Texas college student's killer.
Crime Stoppers is offering the reward, hoping it generates tips in the murder case of 19-year old Amanda Anderson of Chapel Hill.
With each passing day without an arrest, residents in Amanda's neighborhood are becoming more and more worried for their own safety.
Wednesday night, a team of investigators went door to door asking residents about any suspicious activity before Amanda's death.
Smith County constables said they are also increasing the number of patrol cars in the area. It comes on the heels of Amanda's murder as well as burglaries and other criminal activity. For residents, it is good news, but it does not bring them the relief they are looking for.
"It's kind of scary knowing that they don't really have any idea who did it," said William Blalock. "Which is so random that just means it could have been anybody the way it seems so random, that anybody could have, you know, it could have happened to anybody out here."
Investigators say a contributing factor to the high tensions is the fact that many neighbors just don't know each other.
If you have any information, call Smith County Crime Stoppers at 903-597-2833 of 800-575-2833.
