LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Some East Texas students joined millions of people around the world Tuesday morning to celebrate Peace Day.
Students at J. L. Everhart made pinwheels to put along their school's driveways. The students' say they hope our world becomes a place where peace replaces conflict, whether that conflict is bullying or war.
"We made it for peace so we could be nice to each other and make friends, and care about each other," said David Rosales, a second grader.
Pinwheels for Peace says the pinwheel is a childhood symbol and reminds us of a time when things were simple.
The students Tuesday made about 700 pinwheels.
