Fire department to honor retired fire chief at funeral

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Released by the Longview Fire Department:

LONGVIEW, TX - On September 21st at 2 PM in the Longview Fire Department will provide a full Fire Department funeral service in cooperation with Rader Funeral home located at 1617 Judson Rd. out of respect for retired Fire Chief Tommy McMaster and his family.

Chief McMaster served 33 years at the Longview Fire Department. This service included working as Fire Chief from 1979-1993 at which time he retired from the Longview Fire Department. Chief McMaster passed away on the evening of September 18th after battling a lengthy illness.

The following will be included in the services:

  • Full Honor Guard which will be comprised of 15 members of  the Longview Fire Department which will stand post for visitation, serve as casket escort after the service at the Chapel at Rader Funeral Home and presentation of flag at Rosewood Cemetery graveside service
  • Five members of the Longview Police Department honor guard will participant and assist Longview Fire's honor guard
  • The Longview Fire Department Pipes & Drum Corps. Will also show honor and respect during the services including grave side ceremony. The Pipe & Drum Corps. will be in the full dress uniform  
  • Members of the Longview Fire Department along with other departments and agencies will be a part of the procession
  • The Longview Professional Firefighters association local 4331 will provide coverage for some Fire Stations by working with area fire departments   
  • Champion EMS will provide assistance
