LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Huntington man who left his identification behind while trying to cash a forged check pleaded guilty to the crime Monday morning.

As part of the plea agreement, Chad Thomas Sachitano, 24, will serve three years of community supervision and pay a $500 fine and restitution. He will also be screened for drug court. If he is not eligible for drug court, supervisors will find another way to monitor him.

According to a previous report, Sachitano attempted to pass a check at ACE Cash Express, at 3009 South John Redditt Drive on June 10, around 8 a.m. He left his driver's license at the business and fled the area when an employee attempted to contact the person listed as the issuer on the check.

Police used the driver's license and surveillance video to trace the crime to Sachitano, the report stated. Police then interviewed him, and Sachitano admitted he found a book of checks in the men's restroom at Kiwanis Park and that he tried to cash one of the checks.
