CHAPEL HILL, TX (KLTV) - While investigators search for Amanda Anderson's killer, a close friend is shedding light on her life. Amanda was attending Tyler Junior College and worked at Mother Frances Hospital. A close friend of Amanda says this death is just devastating.
"Knowing that she's not going to be here anymore is just sad," said Chaning Jones, friend of Amanda's. "You don't expect anything to happen like that to anybody you know."
As Chaning Jones walked through TJC, she couldn't get her friend Amanda off her mind. The two spent a lot of time together.
"She was the life of the party. Always outgoing. Always funny," said Jones.
She says Amanda was studying English and had a passion for riding horses.
"She would just say that was peaceful for her, not that I ever saw her angry or upset but that was just peaceful for her, something she really enjoyed doing," she said.
Jones says Amanda will be remembered for her caring spirit and love of helping others.
Thursday, Trinity Mother Frances Hospital released this statement:
"Amanda was part of the Trinity Mother Frances family. We are grieving with the family and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this very difficult time." -John Moore, Public Information Officer, Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics.
As Jones mourns her friend, she says the way Amanda was taken is incomprehensible.
"Of course you want to know why someone would do that to such a sweet person," she said. "My heart just broke for her family."
Chaning says her world will never be the same without her friend, Amanda.
"They missed out meeting a very sweet Christian girl that would have done something really good with her life," said Jones.
A moment of silence for Amanda will be observed at 7:30 a.m. Friday at TJC's Founders Day Ceremony. The college will also have a moment of remembrance before TJC's football game on Saturday.
