School bus crashes in Tyler, 6 hospitalized

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - UPDATE 05:30 PM - ETMC reports a total of five kids and one adult was transported to the hospital. They are being evaluated in the emergency room at this time.

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - According to Tyler PD, a school bus crashed in Tyler at the intersection of Loop 323 and Garden Valley. We are told the crash involved a red Mustang and a Tyler ISD school bus. It happened just before 4:30 p.m. Police say the Mustang rear-ended the bus.

According to TISD official, Angela Jenkins, approximately 20 students from Dogan Middle School and John Tyler High School were on the bus. Jenkins says four students were taken to the hospital. The driver of the car has also been taken to the hospital.

According to witnesses, at least two ambulances and a fire truck were on the scene. They say authorities pulled several kids off the bus and placed them on stretchers.

TISD says the Transportation Department will be contacting parents of those students who were on the bus to notify them of the delay and crash.
