Kilgore College celebrates official 75th anniversary Monday

KILGORE, TX (KLTV) - Released by the Kilgore College:

KILGORE, TX - Kilgore College will host a special ceremony on its Kilgore campus Monday to commemorate the college's official 75th anniversary.

The ceremony, set for 3:30 p.m. in front of Old Main, will involve student organizations and comments from college president Dr. Bill Holda.

"This will be a great time for us to reflect on the 75 years that the college has served the community," Holda said. "This will officially mark the culmination of a year of celebration for the college as we look to the next 75 years of the institution."

Leah Gorman, 75th Anniversary Committee Chairman, said the ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. because that was the time that class met on Sept. 13, 1935, when KC first opened its doors.

W.L. Dodson served as the school's first president. That year, the college enrolled 229 students.

Currently, KC has more than 6,700 students.
