STILLWATER, TX (KLTV) - After one week, the best running back in all of college football is an East Texan. John Tyler's Kendall Hunter was voted the Big 12's co-offensive player of the week, for his incredible performance Saturday in Stillwater. Hunter shares the honor with Kansas State senior Daniel Thomas.
Hunter rushed for a national best 257 yards against Washington State. Oklahoma State senior also scored four touchdown. Hunter's the first Oklahoma State running back to run for over 200 yards in a single half since N.F.L. Hall of Famer Barry Sanders did it over 20 years ago. Hunter was giving all the credit to the guys blocking for him.
"The offensive line did their job," said Hunter. "I congratulate them all the time about it. They open those lanes. It's a pretty good start, but we still have a long ways to go."
Hunter looked primed for a big year, after an injury filled 2009.
