LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)- It draws in thousands to East Texas, and now, you'll be seeing a lot more of the Gregg County Fair.

Workers are already assembling rides for the 61st annual fair. This year's fair will be open for 8 days rather than the traditional 5, to allow for more days of entertainment and more chances to catch the rides. The revised format is because of past fairs where weather canceled days, causing lost revenue. This time around organizers want to make sure there are more rides, more attractions, and more chances for visitors to attend.

"Well we tried to bring everything in, we're going to run 8 days this year, so we're bring in a lot of stuff ahead of time and start getting this thing all put together. Friday and Saturday will be what's called ride extravaganza, free gate admission both days all the way around, 8 days of fun rides and thrills out here. There was an article in the paper that said why does Tyler have 8 days and Longview has 5? Well, now we've got 8 days so come on out have fun , that's why we're having it." says fair manager Billy Clay.

Again, the fair will be open this Friday and Saturday, and again from September 13th through the 18th. This Friday will be one-dollar ride day from 6pm - to -11pm, Saturday open noon until 11, and free admission both days.
