MADISONVILLE, OH (FOX19) - A Madisonville man has been indicted after police say his wife was eaten to death by maggots.
Darrel White has been indicted on charges of failure to provide for a functionally impaired person and involuntary manslaughter.
The Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office says White's wife, Jorene White, was in her 40's and suffered from severe arthritis.
Emergency crews responded to the home of Darrel and Jorene White in the 4400 block of Plainville Road during the early morning hours of July 23. Jorene White was pronounced dead at the scene and police responded to investigate her death about a half hour later.
Julie Wilson, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office described the case as a "horrible thing."
Wilson said the house was in "filthy" conditions and police believed Jorene White had been dead for more than a week before emergency crews were called. However, the Hamilton County coroner's office said she hadn't been dead long.
